A bus accident occurred this Monday in the commune of Aïn Nouïssi, when a coach providing the Mohammadia–Mostaganem link skidded before overturning on the RN17, requiring a major rescue operation. The accident left 17 injured, who were quickly treated and evacuated to the local clinic, while the local authorities went to the site to supervise the intervention and ensure the condition of the victims.
Buses continue to cause victims on Algerian roads, and the accident recorded yesterday in Aïn Nouïssi, in the wilaya of Mostaganem, is proof of this. At 8:22 a.m., a passenger bus linking Mohammadia to Mostaganem lost control before overturning on the RN17, a frequently used road route.
This bus overturn required a rapid intervention by Civil Protection, mobilizing units from Aïn Nouïssi, Hassi Mamas and El-Maktaâ.
The bus accident injured 17 men and women aged 19 to 74, mainly with minor injuries. The victims were immediately evacuated to the nearest multipurpose clinic to receive the necessary care.
The rescue operation was carried out with four ambulances, a liaison vehicle and an intervention vehicle, deployed to secure the area and assist passengers.
Following this reversal, Civil Protection services reiterated the importance of vigilance on the roads, particularly in rainy weather where the risk of skidding increases significantly. They insisted on the need to reduce speed, respect the safety distance and strictly follow road signs.
Shortly after the incident, the wilaya director of Civil Protection, Colonel Chabour Abdelhakim, went to the emergency department of the daïra of Aïn Nouïssi to inquire about the state of health of the injured. He was accompanied by a representative of the police, the head of the daïra and the president of the APC. Rescue teams remained mobilized on site to support medical staff if necessary.
