34 postulants à la candidature

34 applicants for the candidacy

Presidential election of September 7

Less than two months before the presidential election of September 7, 34 candidates for candidacy had collected, until Sunday, the forms for the subscription of individual signatures, at the headquarters of the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE), at the Palais des Nations (Algiers). This operation is continuing. To facilitate the operation of legalizing the forms for the subscription of individual signatures for the benefit of candidates for candidacy, the cells for the legalization of these forms will remain open every day of the week, including Fridays and public holidays, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In this context, the ANIE reminds that the national identification number (NIN) is not obligatory to complete the subscription form, and the use of the classic identity card in the legalization operation remains in force.
If the voter card is not brought when signing the individual subscription form for the benefit of the candidate for the candidacy, the person concerned can withdraw the certificate of registration on the electoral roll at the level of the legalization cells of the individual signature subscription forms”, according to the same source.
The ANIE recalled that July 18, 2024 is the deadline for submitting declarations of candidacy to the President of the National Authority.
The submission of forms by candidates for candidacy is done at the 4,903 legalization points distributed throughout the national territory and on July 27, after examination of the files by the ANIE, the final list of candidates will be announced whose files will be transmitted to the Constitutional Court for final validation.
Concerning voting operations, we know that the ANIE has decided to include a certain number of young people who have reached the legal voting age (18 years old), and registered for the first time on the electoral lists, in the lists of supervision of the polling centers and offices during the presidential election of September 7.
This operation, according to ANIE, aims to allow this category of citizens to be involved in supervising the voting operation in order to strengthen their participation in political life and involve them in the electoral operation,” he said, adding that “despite their young age, they will be allocated a quota in the lists of supervisors of polling centers and offices as part of the process of their integration into this operation. For his part, the President of the National People’s Assembly (APN), Brahim Boughali, presiding over the closing ceremony of the ordinary parliamentary session of the APN 2023-2024, called for working towards the success of the presidential election scheduled for September 7 to “consolidate the democratic edifice that the Algerian people are determined to strengthen.”
He called on everyone to “work for the success of the next election, which will consolidate the democratic edifice that the Algerian people are determined to strengthen” within the framework of national cohesion and a strong internal front. He also called on the people to “exercise their legitimate right during the most important national deadline to consolidate the democratic process through a free and sovereign choice, and this, at an important stage in the life of our nation, which has chosen the democratic path to strengthen its foundations and consecrate the culture of the State of institutions, in compliance with the Constitution and the laws” of the Republic.
The President of the Lower House of Parliament also stressed the need to seize this opportunity allowing the people to exercise their rights through a free and transparent election in order to “complete the process of building Algeria within the framework of true democracy.”
“This right will be exercised in the climate of security and stability enjoyed by our country thanks to the cohesion of society and the synergy between the different institutions,” he assured. He also stressed that the APN “has worked to support the process of completing the construction of the new Algeria, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, thanks to sustained efforts that have enabled the realization of important achievements.”
