—❗️🇮🇶 NEW: In a few hours, parliamentary elections will be held across Iraq, and the Council of Representatives will be elected
For the most part things are proceeding smoothly nationwide, but small clashes erupted earlier tonight between Turkmen and Kurdish parties in Kirkuk Governorate, resulting in at least two deaths.
The Iraqi security forces stopped the two groups from fighting, and law and order was quickly restored.
This Iraqi election is important, as it will determine the path the country will take in the coming years. The Sadrist Movement, one of the largest political factions in Iraq led by the controversial anti-Iran Shia cleric Muqtada Sadr, will not participate as they have boycotted the election.
