8 million m3 saved in 2024 thanks to the repair of leaks

Rationalization of water consumption

The Société des Eaux et de l’Algiers (SEAAL) saved nearly 8 million `M3 of drinking water in 2024, thanks to some 24,000 interventions carried out for the repair of leaks on the distribution network in the wilayas of Algiers and Tipasa, according to the data presented by the Company. In 2025, the SEAAL intervention teams maintained the pace, with the repair of 11,855 leaks until last June, thus contributing to the rationalization of water consumption and the improvement of the performance of the network at the level of the company’s activity territory.
These efforts are part of the national hydraulic sector strategy aimed at preserving water resources and guaranteeing the continuity of the public drinking water service despite the climate challenge and increasing pressure on networks, through the reduction of leaks and improving the performance of the distribution network, explains the company.
