❗️🇮🇷/🇮🇱 NEW: Yesterday, Iranian media revealed for the first time that F-14 Tomcats of the IRIAF were active in combat duties during the 12-day war against Israel

Tomcats patrolled Iran’s airspace, mainly being used to engage enemy drones. On the seventh day of the war, one Tomcat of the Iranian Air Force downed a total 8 Israeli drones above Tehran and Karaj by itself.

On the tenth day of the war, an Iranian F-14 even engaged in a dogfight with an Israeli F-15 over North-Western Iran, using its autocannon, but the F-15 performed evasive maneuvers and managed to escape into Iraqi airspace. Iranian F-5 jets were also used, mainly for reconaissance missions; one F-5 was lost in combat near the Iraqi border.
