I’m only going to address this once.
Almost every day, I get DMs from people asking me to limit emojis, to only allow ‘appropriate’ emojis, so that trolls / Israelis cannot mock our dead fighters, Palestinian kids, etc.
The problem is, it’s not that simple. If I only allow positive reactions, then posts that should have negative reactions (like dead Palestinians) will have thumbs up and laughing and other positive ones.
On the other hand if I only allow negative reactions, then posts that should have positive reactions (like dead Israelis) will have angry faces or middle finger emojis.
There is no easy way. And I can’t keep changing emojis every day based on context and posts. We allow almost every emoji reaction, and yes this can lead to some disrespectful situations, but the only other alternative is disabling them fully, which is less interactive and boring for the audience.
So, we’re keeping things the same. Thanks for reaching out but you need to stop being sensitive. If you see happy reacts on dead kids, OBVIOUSLY that’s bad and it’s being botted or trolled. Don’t blame it on us, we can’t control everything.
