IDF: The Chief of the General Staff: “We are concluding the first day of the operation — we opened with surprise, with great force, and with highly significant achievements”

The Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, held a situational assessment and approved plans for the continuation of the operation this evening (Sun.) with the General Staff Forum.

From the remarks of the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir: “We are less than 48 hours into the operation, and many more days of combat lie ahead. We will do everything and act to the best of our abilities to accelerate our achievements, and we are sparing no effort. We are concluding the first day of the operation — we opened with surprise, with great force, and with highly significant achievements that have influenced the development of the operation and its outcome. Already now, we can say that what we achieved at the outset will impact our end state.

We went through a tragic and difficult incident in Beit Shemesh. Our hearts are with the injured and the murdered. It must be said that even at this moment, the incident is still ongoing.

From the start of the operation, we have been operating with great force, and one of our primary objectives is reducing threats to the home front — patience and resilience are required now. We are operating in close cooperation with our ally. Coordination with the U.S. military is closer than ever. All of you are part of this and understand it well. We are also monitoring developments in additional arenas, and we will act powerfully against anyone who attempts to harm Israel”.
