‼️US Government Orders Immediate Shutdown of Anthropic’s Fable 5 and Mythos 5 Models Over National Security Concerns
In an unprecedented escalation of regulatory oversight in the artificial intelligence sector, the United States government has issued an emergency export control directive forcing Anthropic to immediately terminate global access to its flagship Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models.
The abrupt order, delivered to the AI safety research firm late Friday afternoon, cites national security authorities to block access not just to public commercial users, but also to any foreign national employees working inside Anthropic itself. As a result, Anthropic has completely disabled the two advanced models for all customers globally to ensure legal compliance.
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.
Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible.
