President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to discuss defence cooperation on the evening of 20 March.

Details: He thanked for the support of Ukraine and pointed out the importance of American leadership remaining strong in defending the international legal order.

At the same time, he stressed that Russian leader Vladimir Putin must lose the war against Ukraine. “When he (Putin – ed.) loses, the democratic world will have a bright perspective for generations to come,” the president said.

Background:

• On 20 March, Jake Sullivan, US National Security Adviser, was in Kyiv and said that Ukraine will win if it comes out of the war as a sovereign, democratic and free country. At the same time, he did not mention restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity among the conditions of victory.
