CHP candidate, incumbent Mayor Yavaş takes early lead in Ankara


The Turkish capital Ankara saw the Republican People’s Party (CHP) candidate and incumbent Mayor Mansur Yavaş take an early lead in Sunday’s local elections.

With 6.32% of the ballot boxes opened, Yavaş got 55.05% of the votes, followed by the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) candidate Turgut Altınok at 37.33%.
