The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is recommending to the Knesset that this year’s Lag B’aomer celebrations at Mt. Meron be canceled.

The recommendation comes after discussions held by the IDF’s Northern Command and Home Front Command, taking into account updated situational assessments in light of the escalation of hostilities by Hezbollah on Israel’s northern border.

If the government agrees with the IDF’s recommendation, the Mt. Meron site would be declared a closed military zone, with trespassing offenses punishable by law.
