Making a two-day working tour which he led to the East of country and more precisely in the wilaya of Sétif, the representative and first leader of the Mujahideen and Rights Holders declared during a speech given at the Mohamed-Lamine Debaghine University, on the occasion of the National Day of massacres of May 8, 1945 that “the valorization of the historical heritage, and its transmission to Algerian youth, is the greatest guarantee for the fortification of the nation and the strengthening of its link with the homeland,” he said. mentioned. During his speech, Laid Rebiga paid vibrant tribute to the Head of State, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for his great determination regarding the reconquest of national memory, recalling, on this occasion, that it is “from this principle that the President of the Republic took the initiative of consecrating MAY 8 as National Day of Memory, which constitutes proof of loyalty to the sacrifices of the Martyrs and recognition of their high values and their noble principles,” observed the minister.
“What has been achieved in recent years regarding national memory represents an unprecedented achievement which allows rising generations to proudly learn from the history of their country,” said the Minister of Mujahideen with pride.
He also noted that “this achievement develops the pride of belonging to the homeland of the virtuous Martyrs and the valiant Mujahideen, and requires on the part of young people an adherence to the values of memory, deeply anchored in history, and a desire to preserve national achievements,” underlined the minister.
Recalling the great suffering of the Algerian people during the War of the Revolution, Laïd Rebiga indicated that the National Day of Remembrance on the massacres of May 8, 1945, “recalls the difficult days which constituted the apogee of the sacrifices of dozens of thousands of Martyrs after the colonizer betrayed his promises,” symbolized the minister. Calling on Algerians to be inspired and follow the example of the great sacrifices made by our valiant ancestors, Laid Rebiga declared that Algeria is forged thanks to the path opened by the Martyrs for freedom, dignity and emancipation of the Algerian Nation. Furthermore, and during his working visit, the Minister of Mujahideen who was accompanied by the wali of Sétif, Mustapha Limani, went to the cemetery of Sidi Saïd where one of the mass graves of the massacres of May 8, 1945 is located, where he will attend the raising of the colors and a ceremony of contemplation in memory of the Martyrs, before visiting the president of the May 8, 1945 Foundation, Moudjahid Abdelhamid Salakdji at his home.
