« La souveraineté repose sur une armée forte » – Le Jeune Indépendant


The President of the Republic, Supreme Head of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed that the preservation of national sovereignty rests on a strong and formidable army and on a developed economy, stressing that the development of Algeria is tangible and unequivocal.

During his visit to the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense last Wednesday, the President of the Republic delivered a speech, broadcast by videoconference, to all commands of the Armed Forces, the six military regions, major units and Higher schools across the national territory, in which he indicated that “the National People’s Army is strong and will strengthen further” to preserve sovereignty.

Having a powerful and feared army is able to repel “the desires of certain parties”, maintained the President of the Republic, specifying that the development and strengthening of the army “does not mean preparing it to attack or to control any region or neighboring countries, but to protect the national territory for which the martyrs sacrificed themselves and to ensure the future of the current generation. He recalled that Algeria “since its independence has never deviated from international legitimacy nor attacked any country”.

Concerning the economic development experienced by the country, the President of the Republic affirmed that it is “tangible and unequivocal” and that the rate of growth, particularly with the completion of major projects, “will see significant achievements by 2027. major at different levels.

At the start of his speech, the President of the Republic greeted all the personnel of the National People’s Army, stressing that “the institution of the National Day of Memory reflects the pride of the Algerian people in its honorable and glorious history », a day which constitutes an opportunity to “pay homage to the valiant martyrs and to follow their example”.

He recalled, on this occasion, the great sacrifices made by the Algerian people in the face of the odious and barbaric crimes of French colonialism, and responded to those who criticize the Algerian State for its attachment to preserving the memory of the nation, affirming that “a people who have no roots and virtuous and fighting ancestors have an uncertain future”.

The Algerian people, he continued, are “a resistant people who reject the occupation and refuse to have their freedom compromised.”

The President of the Republic also responded to those who doubt the great sacrifices of the Algerian people for the recovery of their freedom, recalling the atrocity of the crimes committed by the colonizer on May 8, 1945.

He added that anyone who “does not preserve the memory of the chouhada and the dignity of Algeria and who does not defend its independence and freedom today has neither history nor future.”

The President of the Republic also addressed external debt, reiterating his rejection of the latter being one of the factors which “jeopardize the independence of the sovereign decision of the State”.

In his speech, the President of the Republic reaffirmed “Algeria’s immutable and unconditional commitment to just causes, led by the Palestinian and Sahrawi causes.”

“There is,” he said, “a plot that we do not accept, which aims to make people forget the existence of the Palestinian people,” emphasizing the need for the establishment of the Palestinian state.

Concerning the Sahrawi question, the President of the Republic emphasized the need to allow the Sahrawi people to access their right to organize a referendum and self-determination.

In this wake, he spoke of the tragedies suffered by the Sahrawi people and the difficult conditions they are experiencing and which are pushing them to rise up.

Algeria “will not abandon the Sahrawi people”, affirmed the President of the Republic, calling on the UN to “fulfill its role by accelerating the work of the decolonization commission”.

On this same occasion, the President of the Republic, Supreme Head of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, praised “the efforts made by the various units of the People’s National Army” as well as “the commitment and attachment of the army general, chief of staff of the People’s National Army, Saïd Chanegriha, to guarantee the optimal operational availability of our Armed Forces in any eventuality.
