The destination for parks, forests and gardens located in greater Algiers attracts more and more visitors during the weekends. Many families plan outings to bring their children closer to green spaces, where they can enjoy a good breath of fresh air. Dounia Park, one of these spaces, is experiencing great popularity.
This flow of visitors can be explained by the growing reputation of the Les Grands Vents park, located in Dély Ibrahim, in Algiers, which offers several services while respecting the natural environment of the place, according to the testimonies of citizens met on site. The immensity of the park, which extends over an area of 1,059 hectares, has two entrances: one on the Dély Ibrahim side and the other on the Ouled Fayet side. This allows visitors to access it through the various neighboring municipalities.
Walking, nature observation, relaxation and safety are among the reasons why many families come to this recreational site.
“Since the opening of this park, I come regularly to regain my strength,” said Hamid, a septuagenarian, who explains that he prefers the Dély Ibrahim entrance. “The immensity of this park means that we are not disturbed. This is why I often come here, just for the pleasure of reading or rereading story books,” confides this former teacher.
Next to it, we find a group of young girls sitting around a beautiful tablecloth, on which are arranged several varieties of cakes (crepes, biscuits, brioches), in addition to tea, coffee, milk… “The day of the picnic, we must only bring home-made products, even jam,” explained Hadjer, a student at the University of Bouzaréah, in Algiers, who specified that “this challenge is precisely the aim of the outing “.
As for Romaissa, also a young university student, she expressed her crush on this place. “This magical place has no equal anywhere else. We came to enjoy the beauty of the spaces and above all to get away from the pollution of vehicles and noise,” she said.

relaxing place for families
As for Manel, the youngest, she admits with wonder: “I didn’t know this place. Today, I came to cheer myself up and be ready for the mock exam on Sunday. » Spreading her pancake with chocolate, the high school student adds: “I think I will come back on the eve of the baccalaureate exam and more precisely under this tree so that it transmits its positive energy to me. »
Most of the testimonies collected on site mention the tranquility and cleanliness of the premises as the primary criteria for breaking away from the habits and routine of daily life.
For her part, Nawel, a young bride, is delighted with Les Grands Vents park, which offers a large space and several activities, notably hiking, and especially appreciates the picnic tables sheltered from the sun. “I intend to plan an outing with friends for an outdoor lunch soon with my husband,” she confided. “For today, I will eat what the park restaurant offers,” said Nawel, who comes from Boumerdès.
In the play areas, Réda, father of two little boys aged 10 and 4, says that “unlike the green areas, where the fun aspect does not exist, the park has everything you need to spend a hassle-free day.” He adds: “I often come with my family or our friends to escape the density of the city. » he made a point of specifying that “many amenities are available, in particular sanitary facilities. Often this detail poses a real problem for us with the children,” he confides. Parents seem delighted to be able to let their children enjoy this magnificent space.
Another 38-year-old mother, owner of a women’s clothing store in Dély Brahim, does not hide her happiness at being able to get some fresh air in Dounia Parc, in the company of her daughter Lylia, aged 15, a cycling enthusiast. . She explains: “Every weekend, I come with my Lyli, sometimes for hikes and other times to cycle, to share moments of escape. It’s pure joy. »
