Le secrétaire général Mohamed Hamel à Alger – Le Jeune Indépendant


The Secretary General (SG) of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF Gas Exporting Countries Forum), Mohamed Hamel, began a two-day working visit to Algeria this Tuesday. This was stated in a press release from the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

“During his visit to Algeria, on May 14 and 15, Mr. Hamel will have meetings with the Minister of Energy and Mines and officials of the sector,” it is specified in the press release, stressing that this visit is is part of the strengthening of joint efforts between Algeria and the GECF in terms of scientific research and innovation.

On this occasion, a short, medium and long-term action plan and program will be put in place for the Gas Research Institute (GRI), which was inaugurated on February 29 in Algiers, on the sidelines of the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the GECF, hosted in Algiers.

The GRI aims to be an innovation and research center dedicated to strengthening the understanding and application of gas-related techniques around the world. It is the result of an agreement signed at the beginning of 2023 between the GECF and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, stipulating to host its headquarters in Algiers.
