The secretary general of the Union of Democratic and Social Forces (UFDS) party, Abderrahmane Salah announced, the day before yesterday Friday in Algiers, that his political party will participate in the next presidential election, scheduled for September 7.
In a speech delivered during a meeting at the party’s headquarters, the SG of the UFDS affirmed that he “will participate in the next presidential election scheduled for September 7, 2024, being an important step allowing the establishment of democratic practice and continue the process of building state institutions,” adding that it is also “a means of expressing the popular will.”
The formula for participation in the next election will be defined “during the National Council which will hold its session on June 14, either by a party candidate or by the support of a non-party candidate,” added Mr. Salah, calling on the Algerians to “rally themselves to the institutions of the State and to actively participate in these events, regardless of the candidate chosen”. The meeting took place in the presence of representatives of political parties and the Palestinian resistance. The SG of the UFDS said he was convinced that “the Palestinian resistance will defeat the barbaric Zionist occupier”. The representative of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Nadir Al Kaisi highlighted “the courage of the Palestinian resistance, all factions combined, in the face of the war machine of the Zionist occupier and the continuation of the struggle until the liberation of Palestine and the establishment of its independent state with El Quds as its capital. On this occasion, Mr. Al Kaisi praised Algeria’s “colossal” efforts and the action of its diplomacy at the level of the Security Council as well as its “active role” for the admission of Palestine as a full state. right to the UN.
