The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed, this Sunday, the State’s firm commitment to financially supporting students in the realization of innovative projects and the creation of start-ups.
In a context where youth and innovation are essential levers of development, the President insisted on the State’s responsibility to support emerging skills and innovative talents among students, on the occasion of National Youth Day. the student celebrating the 68th anniversary of the historic strike of May 19, 1956. This ceremony was held at the Abdelhafid Ihaddadène scientific and technological center in the new town of Sidi Abdellah,
After listening to the students’ interventions and their concerns, the President of the Republic assured that “the State is ready to finance all research projects and start-ups”, emphasizing that “the financing to be granted cannot hinder the development of the country”.
He also noted that the State has the responsibility to rely on the skills of students and the capabilities of young people who master technology, highlighting the importance of their contribution to the progress of the country.
The Head of State further affirmed that all students’ concerns will be examined, in consultation with their representatives and with the Higher Youth Council. He thus declared that “no decision concerning them will be taken without involving the students”.
The President also highlighted the country’s modernization and economic efforts, emphasizing the important role of digitalization in building a modern and competitive economy. This transition to an economy based on real data is seen as a fundamental pillar of Algeria’s development in the coming years. In this sense, the President noted that “2027 will be a pivotal year for Algeria, after the completion of the digitalization process and the development of the national economy and start-ups”.
Underlining the need for an anticipatory vision, the President of the Republic revealed that the Algerian population will exceed 50 million inhabitants by 2026, and will reach more than 60 million inhabitants in 13 years. Hence the need to channel efforts towards building a strong and sustainable economy in a world undergoing rapid technological change.
Referring to the Palestinian cause, the President of the Republic affirmed that “it is a cause that all Algerians defend”. He wished to reiterate his directives concerning the care of Palestinian students in Algeria, testifying to Algeria’s constant solidarity and support towards the Palestinian people, thus recalling the importance of the values of justice and fraternity.
Tribute to the students who joined the Revolution
Evoking the glorious past when students chose to join the revolutionary struggle, President Tebboune underlined the historical importance of the role of students in building the nation and defending national ideals. “On this historic date, a group of students chose to strike and join the revolution, thus increasing its influence,” he said.
It should be noted that the official ceremony of the celebration of National Students’ Day was preceded by the inauguration of the Chahid Abdelhafid Ihaddadene Scientific and Technological Pole.
The President of the Republic listened to a presentation made by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, on the Scientific and Technological Pole which extends over an area of 87 hectares and has 5 higher schools.
The President of the Republic also spoke with students from the National Higher School of Artificial Intelligence and listened to explanations on the specialties of this school. He also visited the National Higher School of Mathematics to inquire about the level of training provided to students by Algerian teachers and skills.
