Les consignes d’Air Algérie aux pèlerins – Le Jeune Indépendant

The 2024 hajj season has officially started. The first departure flight for Algerian pilgrims from the national airline Air Algérie, to the Holy Places of Islam, is scheduled for this Monday, from Houari-Boumediene international airport.

The national airline indicated, in a press release, that this flight will be followed by others from other airports designated for the operation. To accompany pilgrims during their sacred journey, Air Algérie has put in place special measures to guarantee the comfort and safety of travelers. Dedicated teams will be in place to support pilgrims throughout their journey, from preparations in Algiers to sacred rites in Saudi Arabia.

The company also issued a series of guidelines to ensure a comfortable journey for future hajis. Thus, according to the press release, for a stress-free departure, pilgrims are recommended to arrive at the airport at least 5 hours before the flight time. This anticipation allows the necessary formalities to be completed without haste, thus avoiding any risk of delay or last-minute complications.

The airline called on pilgrims to pack and seal their luggage well to avoid accidental opening during transport. It is essential that the contents of the baggage present no risk on board the aircraft, whether in terms of its packaging or its nature.

It is also advisable to remove any old travel labels to avoid confusion. To facilitate the identification of baggage in the event of loss, pilgrims are invited to leave personal information, such as their name, address and telephone number.

As for medications needed during travel, the company insists that they be placed in carry-on baggage. In addition, valuable items, such as computers, phones, personal documents and jewelry, should also be carried in carry-on baggage. This precaution helps keep these essential items close at hand and safe.

Air Algérie has also put in place a series of restrictions to guarantee the safety of all passengers on board the plane.

She noted that certain dangerous goods are strictly prohibited in baggage, namely bladed weapons and sharp objects, liquids, gels, aerosols, cutting tools, rifles, firearms and other weapons.

The same goes for chemicals, electronic cigarettes and any equipment equipped with lithium batteries, including the Galaxy Note 7, thermometers or even mercury barometers.

Regarding the transportation of Zemzem water, which is precious for pilgrims, it should not be placed in checked baggage. It can therefore be transported on board, only, in well-packaged containers that comply with aviation safety regulations.

For baggage weight, each pilgrim is allowed to carry one hand baggage weighing up to 10 kg. In addition to this, two checked bags of 23 kg each are permitted. The airline has stressed the importance of respecting these weight limits to avoid any inconvenience during baggage check-in at the airport.

For its part, the National Office of Pilgrimage and Umrah (ONPO) has published crucial instructions for future pilgrims. In this context, and with the aim of properly coordinating travel, the ONPO encourages pilgrims registered on the “Bawabat El-Hadj” portal and the “Rakb El-Hadjidj” application to come together.

The objective of this approach is to simplify the reservation procedure by bringing together those who wish to perform the pilgrimage together. It is essential that each member of the group is clearly identified and that the “mahram” relationships are specified to ensure that all tickets are booked on the same flight.

It is also essential to emphasize that the booking of hajj tickets is final and cannot be changed. This highlights the need for rigorous and well-planned organization ahead of the sacred journey.
