In order to allow students at the three school levels to catch up and try to obtain a grade allowing them to move on to the next level, the Ministry of National Education has just decided on the schedule of catch-up exams for the year. 2023-2024, during the period from June 23 to 27 for the three teaching cycles.

In a press release made public on Thursday, the department of Abdelhakim Belabed specified that the remedial exams for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years of the primary cycle will take place on June 23 and 24, and those of the middle cycle, on 26 and 27 June for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years, while the remedial exams for the 1st and 2nd secondary years will take place on June 23 and 24. As for the results, they were known on the 27th of the same month.

In this context, the ministry ensures that all educational establishments undertake to organize these tests for all education cycles “without any exception”, stressing that these exams concern students who have obtained an annual average ranging between 4, 50 and 4.99/10 for the primary cycle, and between 9 and 9.99/20 for the middle and secondary cycles.

On the other hand, remedial exams will be organized in “the subjects in which the students have not obtained the required average for the primary and middle cycles, and in only two subjects among the subjects where the students have not obtained the average for the secondary cycle,” indicated the same source.

The announcement and communication of the dates of the remedial exams for the three cycles to the students concerned and their parents will be made on Thursday, May 23, through all available means, in particular on the electronic sites and the official pages of the Directorates of Education. , adds the same press release.

Note that this measure excludes students who will take the baccalaureate exams and the Brevet d’enseignement supérieur (BEM) exam.

The remedial exams constitute a “very important step, preserving the efforts of the students concerned by granting them a second chance to succeed, in addition to its positive impact on education systems and the transition from one year to another during the same school cycle” , explains the press release.

It should be remembered that the Middle School Certificate tests will take place from Monday June 3 to Wednesday June 5, 2024, followed by those for the baccalaureate from Sunday June 9 to Thursday June 13, 2024.
