Athletes Mohamed Berrahal (200m) and Abdelkrim Krai (1500m), closed the Algerian participation (men/women) in the 11th World Para-athletics Championships in Kobe, Japan, with two more silver medals, Saturday during the tests of the 9th and final day.
In the 200 m, class T51, Berrahal took second place in 39.37, behind the winner and Belgian world champion, Roger Habsh (36.64), and in front of the Mexican Navarro Sanchez (40.23). He redeemed himself after failing in the 100m final with the same competitors, finishing just off the podium.
For his part, the middle distance runner Abdelkrim Krai, faithful in major events, managed to climb onto the second step of the world podium in the 1500m event, class T38. The Algerian crossed the finish line in 4:00.94, breaking the world record. The race was won by Tunisian Amen Tissaoui, shattering the world record for the event in 3:58.31, while 3rd place went to Australian Deon Kenzie (4:04.97).
Algeria could hope for other medals during this 9th day, with the F33 weight specialist, Kamel Kardjena who finished at the foot of the podium in his competition, with a throw at 11.00 meters, two centimeters from the medal of bronze.
The competition was dominated by China, with Cai Bingchen (11.91 meters) and Liu Li (11.68 meters).
