The president of the Independent National Electoral Authority (ANIE), Mohamed Charfi, affirmed this Sunday in Annaba that the presidential election on September 7 will take place under conditions that meet international standards, in order to guarantee integrity and credibility of this election.

“Algeria, which opted for democratic construction and the principle of alternation in power, has taken important steps in establishing the organizational conditions necessary for the realization of this option,” underlined Mr. Charfi by inquiring about preparations for the presidential election on September 7 in the wilaya of Annaba.

He also declared, in this context, that the local ANIE delegations represent “an essential link in the building of an electoral administration functioning according to international standards and laws guaranteeing the credibility and integrity of elections”.

The establishment of conditions for the integrity of elections and the guarantee of free choice of citizens during the next elections “result from a firm commitment from the highest authorities of the country”, he further underlined, highlighting “ the central role of the citizen who, through his broad participation in the vote, will give its true value to the next presidential election.

In this regard, the president of ANIE, calling on young people to register on the electoral lists, specified that elections remain the legitimate means of governance and alternation in power, and that the voice of the citizen is the key to establish this legitimacy.

During his visit to Annaba, Mr. Charfi inaugurated, in the city center, the new headquarters of the ANIE wilaya delegation, which he inspected, before inquiring closely about the preparations underway for the next election deadline.
