In his speech at the opening of the proceedings, the president of the National People’s Assembly (APN) and current president of the UIPA, Brahim Boughali, recalled that Algeria “remains constant in its position in favor of the right legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to the recovery of all their rights” and “will spare no effort to confront everyone with their moral and legal responsibilities vis-à-vis the Palestinian question”. He stressed that “the current situation is the result of the denial of this legitimate right by the international community and the practices of the Zionist entity, which enjoys support and total impunity in a context marked by an imbalance which hinders multilateralism and distances it from its true role. Algeria, as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, “has spared and will spare no effort to confront everyone with their moral and legal responsibilities towards Palestine and its people. , and to enforce the UN resolutions which guarantee the right of the Palestinians to the establishment of their independent state with El Quds as its capital,” added Brahim Boughali. He, on this occasion, welcomed “the historic decision of the United Nations General Assembly, which voted for the admission of the State of Palestine as a full Member of the UN, followed by the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordering an immediate end to the offensive”, thus ensuring that Algeria “will continue to mobilize the necessary support to fully achieve its objective and put an end to impunity for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people, their symbols and their history. He also denounced “the policy of double standards and the contempt for international law and legality”, which are, he said, “commonplace”, hoping that this Congress would be “an opportunity to reinvigorate joint Arab parliamentary action in favor of peace and development to meet the regional and international challenges facing our nation. “The Palestinian people are prey to barbaric bombings and massacres of defenseless civilians committed by the Zionist entity, whose crimes spare nothing and no one, as part of the Zionist plan to liquidate the cause Palestinian conflict, the destruction of the foundations of life in Gaza and the forced displacement of its population, while the Security Council remains hostage to the right of veto,” he lamented. And to emphasize that the sacrifices of the Palestinian people with their countless martyrs have “shifted the balance, awakened consciences and exposed the barbarity of the Zionist entity and its contempt for all values and laws”, maintaining that “the Arab parliaments must now align themselves with the international momentum and make national interest prevail over all other considerations. Brahim Boughali also called for “the end of the divisions which delay the recovery of Palestinian national rights”, hoping that this Congress “contributes to the strengthening of Arab understanding and the relaunch of mechanisms of common action, results in a unified position in favor of the just cause of the Palestinian people and mobilizes the forces to meet the challenges facing us. The participants in this 36th Congress, which is being held at the invitation of the president of the National People’s Assembly (APN) and current president of the UIPA, Brahim Boughali, discussed the current situation in the Arab world and the cause Palestinian conflict against the backdrop of the genocidal war suffered by the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, since October 7, 2023.
On the agenda of the Congress are the restructuring of the standing committees and the holding of working sessions and meetings of the Palestine Committee, the Committee on Social Affairs, Women and Children and the Committee on Social Affairs politics and parliamentary relations.
Saturday, at the end of the work of the 34th session of the UIPA Executive Committee, held on Saturday under the presidency of Brahim. Boughali, the members of the Executive Committee were unanimous regarding “Algeria’s eminent role in favor of the Palestinian cause, particularly in the United Nations Security Council.”
