La station de dessalement FOUKA 2 alimentera neuf communes  – Le Jeune Indépendant

Despite all the drilling and pumping stations carried out, for which significant financial envelopes have been released to satisfy the drinking water needs of the citizens of the eastern communes, this precious liquid still remains sought after by most of these cities, especially during summer and heat waves.

A lot of progress and achievements have been made over the past few years, where the water distribution schedule has gone from 1 in 5 to 1 in 3 or even 1 in 2 in several cities. Concerning this 2024 summer season, Abdelkrim Allouche , director of hydraulics and water resources of the wilaya of Blida, declared, through the airwaves of Blida radio, that an emergency program has been prepared since December in order to highlight all projects completed and in progress, especially the eastern side of the wilaya.

This is how pumping stations and boreholes are operational, one in Bougara with 50 l/s which supplies Bougara and Ouled Slama, a water reservoir with a capacity of 2000 m3 for the commune of Bouinan, which supplies the 4,500 housing units in Hassainia.

Still according to Mr. Allouche, 38 boreholes will be operational by the beginning of summer, of which 25 boreholes will come into operation by Eid-el-Kebir. On the dynamics of supplying the municipalities in the east of the wilaya with drinking water, for the years to come, 9 municipalities will be supplied before the end of the year, from the Fouka 2 desalination station , thus eliminating all problems of disruption of drinking water supplies in this region.

The project to supply these municipalities is in progress and the work has reached a progress rate of 30%, according to the water supply department of the wilaya of Blida. This is how a quantity of 100,000 m3 drinking water will be reserved for these municipalities, which will have six reservoirs on which work is underway, in Meftah, Larbaâ, Bougara, Ouled Slama and Sidi Serhane.

The wali of Blida, Brahim Ouchene, as a man on the ground, paid a visit to Fouka to learn about the progress of the work on the construction of the connecting pipes for the nine communes from the Fouka 2 desalination station but above all to establish a balance in serving the different municipalities. Note that the wali visited the construction sites of the six reservoirs mentioned above to find out about the progress of the work. While waiting for this grandiose achievement, the inhabitants of these municipalities will undoubtedly experience a better summer regarding their drinking water supply.
