Two terrorists were killed, another surrendered and six elements supporting terrorist groups were arrested during the period from May 22 to 28, during separate operations by units and detachments of the National People’s Army (ANP ) across the national territory. This is what is indicated in the operational report of the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).

These operations took place during the period from May 22 to 28, in “the dynamic of sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism and against multifaceted organized crime,” according to the press release published yesterday. Units and detachments of the People’s National Army (ANP) carried out several other operations resulting in “quality results which reflect the high professionalism, vigilance and permanent availability of our Armed Forces throughout the national territory” , specifies the same source.

As part of the fight against terrorism and “during a search and combing operation in the area of ​​Djbel Tamoulga, wilaya of Chlef, an ANP detachment killed the terrorists Kachkouche Abdelkader, known as Abou Djafaar and Khaloufi Abdelkader , and recovered two Kalashnikov-type submachine guns, a quantity of ammunition and various objects,” adds the press release.

In the same context, “the terrorist called +Mellouki Sid Ammar, known as Omar, surrendered to the military authorities in Bordj Badji Mokhtar in his possession a Kalashnikov type submachine gun and a quantity of ammunition, while six (6) elements support for terrorist groups were arrested, during separate operations across the national territory.

As part of the fight against organized crime, and “in continuation of the sustained efforts aimed at thwarting the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, combined detachments of the ANP intercepted, in coordination with the various security services during operations carried out across the military regions, 51 drug traffickers, and foiled attempts to introduce 722 kilograms of processed kif from the borders with Morocco, while 461,356 psychotropic tablets were seized,” notes the same source.

In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar and In Guezzam, ANP detachments “arrested 323 individuals and seized 32 vehicles, 245 generators, 144 jackhammers, 15 metal detectors, as well as quantities of raw gold mixture and stones, explosives, detonation tools and equipment used in illicit gold panning operations.”

Likewise, “20 other individuals were intercepted and an FMPK type submachine gun, three Kalashnikov type submachine guns, four hunting rifles, six (6) automatic pistols, 99,128 liters of fuel and 142 tons of foodstuffs intended for the contraband and speculation were seized during separate operations across the national territory,” notes the MDN report.

Furthermore, the Coast Guard “thwarted, on the national coasts, illegal emigration attempts by 126 individuals aboard artisanal boats, while 584 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory,” concludes the press release.
