Two terrorists killed and 1,104 individuals including drug traffickers arrested

The forces of the National People’s Army (ANP) succeeded in incapacitating two terrorists and recovered several weapons of war in several operations carried out across the national territory. During the same operations, 1,104 individuals including drug traffickers, elements supporting terrorism and illegal immigrants were arrested. Among those arrested are also individuals involved in illegal immigration attempts.
Indeed, according to a press release from the Ministry of National Defense (MDN) and as part of the fight against terrorism and during a search and combing operation in the area of Djebel Tamoulga, wilaya of Chlef, a detachment of the ANP killed the two terrorists: “Kachkouche Abdelkader” known as “Abou Djafaar”, and “Khaloufi Abdelkader”, and recovered two Kalashnikov type submachine guns, a quantity of ammunition and various objects. In the same context, the terrorist named ”Mellouki Sid Ammar” known as ”Omar” surrendered to the military authorities in Bordj Badji Mokhtar in his possession 1 Kalashnikov type submachine gun and a quantity of ammunition, while 6 elements supporting terrorist groups were arrested, during separate operations across the national territory. As part of the fight against organized crime, and in continuation of sustained efforts aimed at thwarting the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, combined detachments of the ANP intercepted, in coordination with the various security services during operations executed across the Military Regions, 51 drug traffickers, and foiled attempts to introduce 722 kilograms of processed kif from the borders with Morocco, while 461,356 psychotropic tablets were seized. In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar and In Guezzam, ANP detachments arrested 323 individuals and seized 32 vehicles, 245 generators, 144 jackhammers, 15 metal detectors, as well as quantities of mixture of raw gold and stones, explosives, detonation tools and equipment used in illicit gold panning operations. Likewise, 20 other individuals were intercepted and 1 FMPK type submachine gun, 3 Kalashnikov type submachine guns, 4 hunting rifles, 6 automatic pistols, 99,128 liters of fuel and 142 tons of foodstuffs intended for smuggling and speculation were seized in separate operations across the national territory. Furthermore, the Coast Guard foiled, on the national coasts, illegal emigration attempts by 126 individuals aboard artisanal boats, while 584 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested, concluded the DND press release.
