A cooperation agreement with the Elias-Zerhouni Foundation with the aim of setting up the “Ahsen” project (Algerian health sciences e-learning network), linked to the Algerian e-learning network in medical sciences, was ratified on Thursday, by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and that of Health.
The agreement was signed by the Director of Training at the Ministry of Health, Linda Khoualed, and the Director General of Higher Education and Training at the Ministry of Higher Education, Ali Chokri, in the presence of Ministers Kamel Baddari and Abdelhak Saïhi, and the president of the Foundation, Professor Elias Zerhouni.
This agreement reflects the commitment of the two sectors to provide educational, logistical and technical support to the “Ahsen” project in terms of design and development of the distance learning platform for the benefit of students of medical and paramedical specialties in Algeria.
The “Ahsen” project constitutes, according to its president Imane Amrani, “a new milestone which adds to the field of e-learning in Algeria, in addition to the digital reforms initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education in terms of training and teaching in particular”. She specified that it is intended for students of medical and paramedical sciences through a platform currently available at the University of Algiers 1 and at the National Institute of Paramedical Training, pending its gradual generalization to all universities in the country. .
Professor Zerhouni presented the idea of his project which “stems from his deeply rooted conviction, which demonstrates that we will not be able to know this world if we do not change our conception and reflection on teaching methods” displaying “his great pride in being a child of the Algerian University.” He also underlined that “we are today experiencing the very first stages of the project aimed at developing a future vision of medical and paramedical education and training in Algeria, by infusing more professionalism into modern educational means.”
For his part, Mr. Baddari welcomed this agreement which proves that “the Algerian university “is already moving towards modernization to become a 4th generation university which shares its programs with other international universities”. He added that the Algerian E-Learning network will contribute to the building of the new Algeria by training an educated generation which masters innovative teaching and entrepreneurship, with a view to achieving cooperation projects between learners and trainers.
The first manager of the higher education sector also noted that the higher education sector is considered a pioneer in terms of digitalization with the establishment of more than 52 digital platforms in different educational, scientific and service areas.
For his part, the Minister of Health affirmed that this agreement aligns with the objectives of his sector aimed at “opening up and perfecting the current experience which has borne fruit in the field of continuing training”. emphasizing “the need to use new technologies in continuing and distance learning”.
He also welcomed the eminent scientific personality of Professor Zerhouni, who was keen to honor the children of this country by offering them a virtual scientific field with world standards, as well as the opportunity to learn about the various technological developments and educational in the world.
