More than 800,000 candidates will appear, starting this Monday, June 3, 2024, for the intermediate teaching certificate (BEM) June 2024 session, spread across 2,967 examination centers.
The Ministry of National Education specified that 1,356 candidates with specific needs are also affected by this exam, including 179 with autism, 104 with slight mental retardation, 9 suffering from “children of the moon” disease, 7 with Down syndrome, 233 visually impaired, 395 with motor disabilities and 429 hearing impaired. Added to this are 552 candidates from the nation’s cadets and 5,003 candidates from re-education centers.
The students will be examined for three days, from June 3 to 5, in nine subjects, in addition to the Amazigh language for the students concerned. Candidates will have four subjects for the first day, namely from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Arabic language, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. physical sciences and technology, in the afternoon, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Islamic education and from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. civic education.
For the second day, they will have mathematics from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., English language from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and for the afternoon, history and geography from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. For the third and final day, the students will work on the French language test from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., the natural and life sciences test from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and finally the Amazigh language test in the afternoon from 2:30 p.m. at 16 o’clock.
The Minister of National Education, Abdelhakim Belabed, assured that the BEM tests will focus on lessons taught face-to-face at educational establishments, calling on candidates not to interact with what is broadcast on social networks.
Regarding the test times, the examination centers will be open at 7:30 a.m. to allow candidates to present their national identity cards and their invitations. Cell phones will be prohibited.
In this regard, the minister called for discipline and respect for the official opening time of examination centers by supervisors and candidates for the BEM tests. He urged candidates to take necessary precautions to avoid delays on exam days, given that the testing centers will be open one and a half hours before the scheduled time.
Belabed affirmed that he will personally monitor the progress of the official exams, from the receipt and securing of the subjects at the exam centers. He insisted on the imperative of ensuring a climate conducive to candidates among people with specific needs and those who are in hospitals or rehabilitation centers.
Concerning the results, candidates and their parents will be able to consult them by SMS, or wait for them to be displayed in the CEMs and on the internet with the results online via the website of the National Examinations and Competitions Office bem.onec.dz.
As part of securing the conduct of official exams, the minister assured that his department ensures the rigorous application of the law against the disseminators of false subjects through social networks, considering that this harmful phenomenon is likely to disrupt the candidates, or even exhaust them on a psychophysical level.
For its part, the Ministry of Justice has taken, in coordination with the sectors concerned, a battery of proactive measures to prevent and fight against crimes of fraud and leakage of exam subjects, in particular offenses linked to information technology. information and communication (ICT).
In terms of sanctions, the deputy attorney general at the court of Algiers, Tahar Larabi, indicated that according to article 253 bis 6 “is punishable by imprisonment of one year to three years and a fine of 100,000 DA to 300,000 DA anyone who disseminates or discloses, before or during exams or competitions, the questions and/or corrected questions for final exams in primary, middle or secondary education or competitions for higher education or professional training and education as well as national professional competitions. Anyone who takes the place of the candidate during examinations and competitions is liable to the same penalties.”
Furthermore, article 253 bis 7 stipulates that “the penalty is imprisonment of five years to ten years and a fine of 500,000 DA to 1,000,000 DA if the acts mentioned in article 253 bis 6 are committed by people responsible for preparing, organizing, supervising or supervising exams and competitions, a group of people, the use of an automated data processing system, the use of means of remote communication” .
