It’s off to a good start today, Monday June 3, for the 818,439 young candidates for the Brevet d’enseignement supérieur (BEM) exam for the 2023/2024 school year to pass a higher percentage than that achieved in 2023, where the success rate was close to the 61% mark. A BEM under close surveillance in which all educational, human and material resources have been mobilized by the State. A very important school exam and a very special meeting for the 818,439 young candidates who will, this morning Monday June 3, attempted to move on to the second level, or even secondary level, through which the Ministry of National Education representing the Algerian State did not hesitate to allocate enormous resources for its success and, above all, to achieve one of the objectives imposing within the framework of the new national educational vision.
Thus, the 9th grade schoolchildren will, today Monday, be at the big meeting with their destiny. More than 800,000 educated, independent candidates and those with specific needs will take the examination for the Brevet d’enseignement supérieur (BEM) from today until June 5, through 3,040 examination centers and 97 correction centers in National level. The figures announced in a press release dated yesterday Sunday by the Ministry of National Education show a total of 818,439 educated candidates, with specific needs and free registered for the June 2024 session of the BEM, including 1.6% free candidates and 53% girls.
According to the ministry, 1,356 candidates with specific needs are also affected by this exam, including 179 with autism, 104 with slight mental retardation, 9 suffering from mental illness.
“children of the moon”, 7 with Down syndrome, 233 visually impaired, 395 with motor disabilities and 429 hearing impaired.
Added to this are 552 candidates from the Cadets of the Nation and 5,003 young candidates from re-education centers. Furthermore, “all organizational measures have been taken to ensure the smooth running of the national examinations, with the establishment of a monitoring system at several levels,” reported the ministry press release repeating the words of the Minister of National Education, Abdelhakim Belaabed, while ensuring that “the subjects of the tests are drawn from the courses taught in classes during the school year”, observed the Ministry of National Education.
As in previous years, the educational establishments mobilized for the BEM examination “will open their doors at least one hour before the start of the tests, no communication tools are authorized in the examination rooms and personal effects will be left in a dedicated room”, warned in advance the press release from the supervisory authority.
Also, the information bulletin of the Ministry of National Education noted that “to combat fraud in national exams, the public authorities have adopted a strict penal policy, with the assistance of the Education and Justice sectors. and the establishments concerned,” warned the supervisory authority.
On the other hand, and on the occasion of this educational event, the Ministry of National Education reserved other special measures concerning candidates with visual and hearing difficulties, where the latter “benefited from special procedures which allow you to pass both exams in comfortable and favorable conditions,” the authority said in its press release made public yesterday.
“It is a question of adapting the subjects and canceling the drawings and tables so that the students applying for the BEM can answer the questions without having difficulty, while using the Braille technique,” specified the same source.
“As for young candidates from the National Schools of Cadets of the Nation, their number reached 558 candidates to take the BEM tests, while candidates from re-education establishments, their number reached 5,003 students of the middle rank,” said cited the ministry.
