It was in a calm atmosphere that the 28,849 BEM candidates from the wilaya of Blida presented themselves this Monday in the 83 examination centers spread across the territory of the capital of Mitidja.
The candidates joined the examination centers to take the first day’s tests, which focused on the national language (Arabic), physical sciences and technology, Islamic education and civic education. They were delighted and proud of their answers.
“The education department has made available to all centers the material and human resources for the smooth running of the exam. The perfect material organization of establishments and logistics are determining factors for the smooth running of the exam,” declared Abderrahmane El-Bard, head of the examination department at the Blida education directorate.
The degree of application on the ground was visible during the visit to the examination centers in the wilaya capital.
The first BEM tests began in 83 examination centers in Blida, including an examination center at Benboulaid University Hospital, where two hospitalized students took their BEM. These tests, which include 9 subjects, will be spread over three days.
There are more than 28,000 of them, including 15,567 girls and 12,884 boys. 257 candidates will compete in the Amazigh language, 333 as free candidates, 57 candidates, all boys, are detainees and foreign candidates including Syrians and Sahrawis. For the fringe of rights holders, there are 32 of them, with 4 visually impaired, 15 autistic and 13 with very reduced mobility. “These are our children. We have prepared everything so that they feel very comfortable during the exam,” assured El-Bard.
For the first day of this exam, the young candidates had a busy schedule. They passed the morning tests in Arabic language and physics, while in the afternoon they were examined in Islamic education and civic education.
According to the students interviewed, “the tests went very well”, if it were not for the anxiety which overcame the majority of the candidates, very excited at the idea of finally moving on to high school, which for them is synonymous with move on to another stage of their life. “It is true that stage fright destabilizes and distracts somewhat, but apart from the physics subject which was difficult and complicated, the Arabic language, Islamic and civic education were affordable,” a young candidate for leaving the university told the Young Independent. an examination center in Soumâa, east of the capital of the wilaya.
The education directorate of the wilaya of Blida, in coordination with the wali, Mr. Ouchen, has spared no effort. Everything was planned, namely transport, catering for candidates living far from the center, medical and psychological care for candidates, thanks to a medical team, as well as security measures which were very reinforced, to ensure the smooth running of the exams.
It should be noted that the candidates were relaxed, comfortable and aware of the importance of this exam, which will allow them to access the next level.
