Building on its status as a corporate citizen par excellence, Ooredoo marks World Children’s Day celebrated on June 1 each year and organized in collaboration with the National Volunteer Association (ANV) a didactic and informative day in favor of children.
Organized at the Zeralda Educational Farm, this day, dedicated mainly to children with reduced mobility, orphans as well as the children of Ooredoo employees, aimed through a rich educational, educational and fun program including in particular the introduction to gardening , artistic recycling, pottery, drawing and painting as well as fair games to instill green culture and environmental protection in children.
This event, placed under the slogan: “Let us plant the seed of hope in our children”, dedicated exclusively to children, was marked by the presence of the Secretary General of the Algerian Red Crescent (C-RA), the President of the National volunteer association, Ooredoo executives as well as representatives of the associative movement working in the field of child protection.
On the sidelines of this celebration, a minute of silence was observed in memory of Palestinian children.
On this occasion, the Managing Director of Ooredoo, Mr. Roni Tohme, declared: “Ooredoo is proud to mark this World Children’s Day and to contribute through this social responsibility initiative to bringing joy to children in particular. orphans and those with reduced mobility.
Ooredoo has organized several operations and initiatives in favor of children with disabilities, which have resulted in the granting of contributions to certain associations active in supporting people with disabilities in all its forms. And as the end-of-year exams approach, I take this opportunity to wish our children much success and success”
For his part, the President of the ANV, Mr. Ahmed Malha, said: “We salute our partner Ooredoo for this laudable initiative which confirms, once again, its status as a socially responsible company par excellence and its commitment to alongside children through the celebration of this World Day. We aim, through this day, to educate our children in green culture and environmental protection, through recycling activities and planting shrubs in order to prepare a conscious and responsible future generation. »
The main objective of celebrating this Day is to raise public awareness about the protection of children and their fundamental rights stipulated in the International Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) of Unicef.
These include, among other things, the right to be protected against all forms of discrimination, the right to live with family, to be surrounded and loved and the right to play and have access to leisure activities.
It should be remembered that last year, at the Promenade des Sablettes in Algiers, Ooredoo celebrated this World Day with children from the associative movement such as the El Baraka de Ain Taya Association, the National Foundation for the Promotion of health and research development (Forem), and the Association of people with motor disabilities of Bab El Oued “Amel Wa 3amel”.
Also, Ooredoo has already organized a multitude of initiatives aimed at orphaned and disabled children and their families, by making financial donations to associations active in this field, notably the El Rahma de Tipasa Association, the Kafil El Charitable Association Yatim of Béjaïa, the Nour El Yatim Association of Tamanrasset, the Association of the physically disabled ”El Amel oua 3amel” (Hope and Work) of Bab El Oued, the El Ghaith Association of Bordj Bou-Arréridj and the Foundation national health promotion and research development (Forem).
Through its contribution to this event, Ooredoo reiterates its commitment to Algerian children and its desire to offer them the best conditions to encourage their inclusion within society.n
