Army General Saïd Chanegriha, chief of staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), warned this Tuesday of the dangerous development of the smuggling of narcotics into Algeria. He affirmed that among the most serious threats facing our country today are the sneaky attempts to flood it with drugs and narcotics of all kinds.
Saïd Chanegriha estimated that these attempts aim to harm the physical and psychological health of the nation’s vital forces, the youth in this case, by demoralizing them and pushing them towards drug addiction and crime.
These statements were reported in a press release from the Ministry of National Defense, which reported a working and inspection visit by the Chief of Staff, which began yesterday in the fifth military region in Constantine.
During this visit, the Chief of Staff, accompanied by the Head of the RM, inaugurated the new specialized care center for the military services in El-Mansourah. “The army general received two detailed presentations concerning the creation and management of this center. He subsequently carried out an inspection visit to all the services of this center and received explanations concerning the services offered to army employees and rights holders,” explains the same source.
The army general also held a meeting with the region’s executives, followed via videoconference by all the personnel of the units of the 5th military region (RM), where he delivered an orientation speech through which he spoke of the dangerous development of the smuggling of narcotics towards Algeria.
“In this context, I would like to draw attention to the alarming upward trend that the phenomenon of trafficking of psychotropic drugs, of all kinds, continues to take in our country in recent times, in the sense that the statistics, emanating from various security services report the seizure of enormous quantities of these poisons, which criminals and enemies of the country are trying to sell on national territory,” underlined Saïd Chanegriha.
The army general affirmed that the ANP will remain on guard and face all those who support this pernicious scourge, urging personnel to redouble their efforts to combat it by all possible means. “Within the National People’s Army, we attach particular importance to the fight against this pernicious phenomenon and we will have no tolerance towards its barons. In this sense, we will continue to vigorously combat all those who encourage, support or finance this harmful scourge, through the strengthening of our military and security systems all along our borders,” said the army general.
Saïd Chanegriha underlined, while addressing the military personnel: “It is up to you at the level of the territory of the 5th military region to redouble your efforts to combat drug trafficking networks and eliminate these criminals, traitors to the nation, by implementing implementing operational procedures adapted to the modes of action of these criminals and by mobilizing all possible means in order to protect our country from the misdeeds of this scourge, which is part of the vile designs being hatched against our country.
At the end of this meeting, the army general gave a set of guidelines and instructions to personnel in the region, relating in particular to the continuation of efforts aimed at bringing together all security conditions during the next summer season for the benefit of citizens. Furthermore, he was keen to highlight the results they have recorded in the fight against terrorism and all forms of organized crime.
