Relief for candidates.

The Middle School Certificate (BEM) exams ended this Wednesday. Candidates were “relieved” and said they were satisfied, describing the natural sciences subject as affordable and within the reach of the average student.

Great relief for the 818,439 candidates for the secondary education certificate. The series of tests, which lasted three days, ended with the subjects of French, natural sciences and Tamazight, for those who registered.

Aside from the mathematics test, considered difficult by some candidates, the other subjects were generally affordable, according to the students.

Yesterday again, it was the same trend. No annoyance was seen on the faces of the candidates encountered at an examination center, as they left the natural sciences test. “I was a little apprehensive about the natural sciences subject but, in the end, the questions were approachable and it was in our program. In principle, I worked well,” a candidate confided to the Young Independentsaying she was relieved to have finished since she was not concerned by the Tamazight test, scheduled for the afternoon.

Same story with the other candidates who claim to have found no difficulty in answering the exercises proposed in the natural sciences subject. The French test was also within the reach of future high school students.

It should be noted that after a very easy and promising start to 1er day (Arabic, Islamic education, civic and physical tests), the middle school students were stressed on the 2e day with the math test, considered somewhat difficult, to finally regain hope with the natural sciences test, also considered very easy.

The evaluation is based on two formulas: an automatic pass for the winners and those who obtain an average of 10 by adding the annual average and that of the BEM divided by two.

For those who failed the BEM, the situation is not dramatic since they still have a chance of accessing the secondary level thanks to their annual average of continuous evaluation, added to the BEM average. This average will then be divided by two and those who manage to obtain an average equal to 10/20 will also be able to move on to high school. That said, the efforts made by college students throughout the course can help those who have not managed to achieve good grades in the BEM.

The Minister of National Education, Abdelhakim Belabed, at the start of the tests from the wilaya of El-Tarf, affirmed that the BEM examination will be subject to reform in the years to come, stressing that this reform aims to replace the old methods of calculating passing averages.

He indicated that, as part of the reform of the educational evaluation system initiated by the President of the Republic, changes will be made to the exam, particularly for the evaluation of prior learning.

This reform aims, according to the official, to push our children to achieve high levels of success in their secondary education.
