Algeria has worked to establish a solid legal system aimed at guaranteeing the transparency of the electoral process. This is what Salima Mousserati, president of the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention and Fight against Corruption, said.

“Algeria has endeavored, through its legislation, to achieve this transparency through the creation of the Independent National Authority for Elections (ANIE), which enjoys broad prerogatives,” declared Ms. Mousserati during a national seminar. organized in Sétif on “the transparency of public life and its role in the promotion of electoral practice”.

The official stressed that the protection and credibility of the elections are ensured by a rigorous legal framework and by the establishment of independent bodies responsible for supervising the entire electoral process, from the revision of the electoral lists to the proclamation of the results. .

“The integrity of elections is mainly linked to the impartiality of the party supervising the electoral process,” she further insisted, stressing that the creation of the Constitutional Court constitutes an important mechanism for strengthening the transparency of the electoral process.

Ms. Mousserati also highlighted the institutional and legal system put in place by the Algerian authorities, “with a set of constitutional and legal guarantees ensuring the transparency and credibility of the electoral process”.

For his part, the Secretary General of the National Federation of Higher Education and Scientific Research (FNESRS), Messaoud Amarna, welcomed the new strategic vision aimed at promoting the Algerian university and its adaptation to the demands of globalization and of the knowledge economy.

He also highlighted the role of the university elite as a partner in the economic, social and political dynamics of the country, and its contribution to the promotion of national cohesion.

This seminar, organized as part of the explanation and analysis of legal mechanisms reinforcing the transparency of public life and electoral practice in Algeria, aimed to “identify the manifestations of the positive impact of transparency of life public as well as the enhancement and enrichment of electoral practice, and thus strengthen the democratic process in the country.

The participants, from several universities in the country, debated various themes related to the transparency of the electoral process and the transparency of the administration as an essential pillar of improving the relationship between the administration and the citizen- elector. They also highlighted the positive impact of transparency on the democratic process. These include strengthening citizen confidence in institutions, encouraging citizen participation in elections, combating electoral fraud and manipulation and promoting the political stability of the nation.
