Le FFS opte pour Aouchiche – Le Jeune Indépendant

The Front of Socialist Forces (FFS) has made its choice. The party revealed this Friday the identity of its candidate for the next presidential election on September 7, thus putting an end to speculation.

This is its secretary general, Youcef Aouchiche, whose candidacy was validated by the delegates, gathered in an extraordinary congress in Zéralda, in the western suburbs of Algiers.

This is the first time that the FFS has presented itself in a presidential election since that of 1999. That year, its candidate and historic leader, the late Hocine Aït Ahmed took part in the election but was unable to finish his electoral campaign due to illness. However, he quickly withdrew from this presidential election with five other candidates to protest against the fraud and denounce the Administration’s bias and its favoritism for candidate Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

For observers, it is a real plebiscite because there were only two votes against and two abstentions among the delegates.

In a speech given after the vote, Youcef Aouchiche affirmed that this election is “an opportunity to make a difference, by carrying a message of hope and positive energy”.

“We will carry on this occasion a presidential project which is based on a clear, coherent and participatory vision, combining priority actions and futuristic projections, taking into consideration our realities and our different possibilities,” he added.

According to the FFS candidate, “strengthening the country, immunizing it and developing it is a great ambition which can only be achieved through real change”, and the latter requires “legitimate and democratic institutions, an effective separation of powers , a strengthened and respected Parliament, independent justice and media, intermediary bodies at the heart of change, effective decentralization and harmonious economic development, by rehabilitating the value of work and freedom of enterprise.”

For Mr. Aouchiche, “faced with the multiple challenges of our country and our world, coherent action and a language of truth will make it possible to recreate confidence, straighten out our country and bring it together around a common project for change, the preservation of the country and respect for freedoms and pluralism.”

It should be noted that the president of the congress had explained, before the vote, the reasons which motivated the decision of the FFS to participate in this electoral meeting. Affirming that the FFS has chosen “autonomy in decision-making”, he indicated that “the political scene is characterized by closure and allegiances” and that “this participation in the presidential election is an option chosen “after careful consideration » but above all “after having put all possible options on the table”.

The president of the congress has long spoken of “the international geopolitical context and the situation on our borders which pushed the FFS activists to assume a historic responsibility”, especially emphasizing the threats, perils and risks weighing on national sovereignty.

He also reminded the delegates present of the demands of the FFS on the domestic level, reaffirming its demands relating to “the opening of the political and media fields, and the removal of article 87 bis”.

As a reminder, two weeks ago, the FFS decided, during an extraordinary session of its National Council, to take part in this presidential election.
