In application of the strategic vision of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for the improvement of public infrastructure in the wilaya of Tamanrasset, the Ministers of Health. Abdelhak Saïhi, and Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, carried out this Saturday a working and inspection visit to the wilaya of Tamanrasset in order to assess the rate of progress of the projects being finalized .
During this visit, Mr. Saïhi affirmed that “the development of the health center of this wilaya comes in application of the directives of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, with a view to better health care for citizens”.
During this visit, he inspected several health structures in the wilaya, including the 240-bed hospital. While emphasizing the government’s desire to open, at this hospital, a center for the care of cancer patients, he noted the fact that this new hospital will be close to the paramedical training school, a mother-child referral hospital and a clinic dedicated to ophthalmology and ENT. He assured that these infrastructures reflect the firm desire of the public authorities to provide the region with modern and efficient medical infrastructures helping to facilitate access to care for the region’s inhabitants.
The minister noted the qualitative leap in the care of patients in the Algerian South, particularly with the opening of new health infrastructures in the wilayas of Adrar, Tindouf and Djanet as well as other large cities in the Algerian South. , believing that the sustained efforts of the government, aimed at strengthening the health system in the south of the country, are reflected on the ground by the considerable progress made in health in these regions.
Concerning the availability of specialist doctors at the level of these infrastructures, the minister revealed that several missions have been set up by the Ministry of Health with the sending of specialists, in partnership with Cuban doctors, to meet the needs of the inhabitants of the region.
This approach is part of the establishment of health centers developed in collaboration with university hospital centers in the North. The short-term ambition is to create autonomous structures in all medical specialties to take care of patients and ensure continuity of service, replacing the sending of a specialist within the framework of the civil service.
In addition, twelve freshly trained native specialists from the region will soon join their assignments at the health infrastructure level in Tamanrasset, he said. A reinforcement of specialists who will help to further strengthen the offer of specialized care in the region and guarantee optimal medical care for patients.
For his part, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, highlighted the efforts made by the government to make the city of Tamanrasset a true university hub, the objective being that “the University of Tamanrasset becomes a modern university of 4e generation, with all the infrastructures that exist and those that will be received in the very short term.
He recalled the commitment of the country’s highest authorities to make the city of Tamanrasset a true university hub, “a citizen university which meets the expectations of citizens and the local population as well as neighboring wilayas, and which aims to raise the challenges of sustainable development.
The university complex will cover an area of 79 hectares in accordance with the directives of the President of the Republic, as part of the implementation of his development program for the Great South.
The minister inspected the progress of the work to complete the construction project of a 1,000-bed university residence, covering an area of 7 hectares. He also announced the opening of 20,000 educational places over an area of 10 hectares, equipped with all the modern equipment necessary for the smooth running of university courses. Furthermore, the opening of new specialties are currently being studied.
