Déshabillons-les !  – La Nouvelle République Algérie

Let’s undress them!

Chronic

The tweet from the French Republican party, which is still polling at 7% of voting intentions for the European elections in June 2024, is ridiculous, gratuitous and above all symptomatic of the state of decay of political representation in France. What qualification can be given to this stupid exercise of freedom of expression by the so-called custodians of the Gaullist heritage who saw their best elements leave the ship when it began to take on water from all sides, ravaged by internal struggles? , the confrontations of egos and above all an ideological cursor which has completely lost direction.
This political family of which the former French president Jacques Chirac was one of the charismatic leaders and to which the no less charismatic Dominique De Villepin belonged has, it seems, no longer any real influence on an electorate in particular popular now shared by the far right and the French left, now committed to the Palestinian cause.
Its current leader, the Niçois of Italian origin Eric Ciotti, cannot put on the presidential costume that many competitors are competing for, including in his own political camp, and is desperately deploying his media relays to make himself heard. by drawing, if necessary, its elements of language from the lexicon of the extreme right. He responds at the same time and in his own way, has he been mandated by others? which corresponds to a legitimate request from Algeria, the restitution in due form of everything which belongs to Algeria and which was confiscated, stolen and moved to mainland France during the colonial period. This request which arises from the work of a joint commission created to try to ease the memory tensions between the two countries and which includes, it should be remembered, French historians known for their fervent adherence to the neocolonial thesis of negation of the existence of Algeria before French colonization.
This tweet, which has still not been removed from Republican publications, cannot in any case be described as xenophobic, especially in these times of rebuilding the world order where the cards are being redistributed and the balance of power transformed.
Ultimately, it is a Franco-French political maneuver aimed at scuttling the small steps of repentance taken by the current tenant of the Elysée and to which this request from a joint commission of historians, which does not unanimity in Algeria, is addressed. This tweet, however, remains a non-event and Algeria today remains fully mobilized to achieve and realize its objectives of economic emergence and geopolitical power.
