Consolidating the relationship in the energy sector between Algeria and China is a common desire expressed by both parties.
The Sonatrach group and the Chinese group Sinopec have affirmed their desire to strengthen cooperation and bilateral partnership in the field of hydrocarbons, particularly in terms of exploitation technologies and equipment manufacturing. This is what Sonatrach indicated in a press release, giving more details on the visit to China of its CEO and the delegation which accompanies him.
The CEO of Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi, concludes this Tuesday his visit to China which he began on June 6, as part of the strengthening of the partnership linking the Group to its Chinese partners active in the fields of energy, digitalization and information technologies.
As part of this visit, bilateral meetings took place on June 7 with the CEO of China National Petroleum Corporation CNPC and its senior executives, in addition to a visit to the company’s data center, the press release noted.
On this occasion, a memorandum of understanding, concerning the hydrocarbon value chain, was signed with the Chinese group Sinopec, in addition to a visit made by the delegation to the company “China Petrolium pipeline” CPP.
During this working visit, Mr. Hachichi also made a field visit to the “fuling” gas field, operated by the Sinopec group in the Chongqing region, the largest gas field in China, with an annual production capacity of up to 10 billion m3, according to details from Sonatrach.
A meeting was organized on the occasion, dedicated to the presentation of the experience of the Sinopec group, “pioneer in more than 24 countries in the development of the oil and gas industry in the world”, as well as its expertise in regarding the exploitation of the gigantic “fuling” deposit.
The visit of the delegation accompanying Mr. Hachichi to this deposit made it possible to exchange expertise with the managers of the Chinese group concerning the technologies and techniques used in the exploitation of the said deposit, the company further specified.
The Sonatrach group took the opportunity to express its desire to strengthen its partnership with Sinopec and take advantage of its experience and technological expertise in the exploitation of hydrocarbons, the two parties having agreed “to exploit the means of partnership offered in the field of oil and gas in Algeria, Africa and the world and to manufacture industrial equipment for hydrocarbons in Algeria,” it was affirmed.
