Algeria’s permanent representative to the UN, Ambassador Amar Bendjama, indicated on Friday, during a poignant intervention at the Security Council, that the concept of tolerance is being put to the test in the current geopolitical context.
This concept could not materialize while the world witnesses a barbaric Israeli aggression against Palestinian civilians, sparing neither women nor children, he stressed.
Supporting his remarks, Bendjama affirmed that tolerance would be synonymous with guaranteeing the peoples under occupation in Palestine, Western Sahara and elsewhere, the inalienable right to self-determination, without selectivity or imposition of fait accompli.
Launching a solemn appeal for the promotion of the principles of tolerance in international relations, Ambassador Bendjama declared that the followers of the colonizing spirits, and those who tear up the charter of the United Nations (alluding to the act of the representative of the Zionist entity in New York), put the principle of tolerance in danger.
He concluded by pleading the implementation of the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on living together in peace, adopted in 2017 at the initiative of Algeria.n
