Sophisticated algorithms diagnose diseases better than some experts, surgical robots perform operations with unparalleled precision, and AI systems manage complex research in seconds. However, this progress comes at a cost. By training these machines to perform specific tasks, humans risk creating a world where they become obsolete. Machines do not need rest, they do not experience fatigue or emotion, and they can learn at exponential speed. Our children have already become dependent on technology. Unable to do calculations without their calculators, they gradually lose the ability to think critically and independently. This dependence could increase as AI becomes more omnipresent in our daily lives. In some areas, this transition is already visible. Industrial robots have replaced workers in many factories, and virtual assistants carry out administrative tasks with incredible efficiency. Even in the medical field, some patients prefer to interact with automated systems rather than human professionals. ChatGPT, a language model developed by OpenAI, perfectly illustrates this evolution. Capable of conversing fluidly and providing accurate answers on a multitude of topics, ChatGPT shows how AI can assist and, in some cases, replace human interaction. However, this tool also raises questions about the growing dependence on these technologies and the potential to dehumanize daily interactions. As we continue to perfect these technologies, the question arises: what is the point of lamenting the loss of jobs when it is humans themselves who are training the robots to replace them? The paradox of technological progress is that although we create machines to improve our quality of life, we also risk losing our central place in the world of work. AI experts emphasize that the ultimate goal is not to replace humans but to assist them. However, the rapid evolution of these technologies could bring us to a point of no return, where robots, having become smarter and more capable, could not only replace us, but also dominate us. AI has the potential to transform our world in profound and lasting ways. But this transformation must be accompanied by ethical and societal reflection on the place of humans in this new paradigm. Will the robot student one day surpass his human master? Only the future will tell us. In the meantime, it is crucial to ensure that this transition takes place in a balanced and humane manner, so that man remains the master of his destiny, and not the slave of his own creations. The question of whether we should limit or encourage the development of AI remains open. One thing is certain: the future of humanity will depend on how we choose to coexist with our creations. It is imperative to find a balance where technology serves humanity without enslaving it.
