Three elements supporting terrorist groups were arrested by detachments of the People’s National Army (ANP), during separate operations across the national territory, while two terrorists surrendered to the military authorities in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, during the period from June 12 to 19, indicates an operational report made public Thursday by the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).
“In the dynamic of sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism and against multifaceted organized crime, units and detachments of the ANP executed, during the period from June 12 to 19, 2024, several operations leading to quality results which reflect the high professionalism, vigilance and permanent availability of our Armed Forces throughout the national territory,” the press release specifies.
As part of the fight against terrorism, “two terrorists surrendered to the military authorities in Bordj Badji Mokhtar. These are “S. A” and “S. SA” who had in their possession two Kalashnikov type submachine guns, a large batch of weapons, a quantity of ammunition and other objects. Likewise, “three elements of support for terrorist groups were arrested during separate operations across the national territory”. As part of the fight against organized crime, and in continuity with the sustained efforts aimed at thwarting the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, “combined detachments of the ANP intercepted, in coordination with the various security services during operations carried out across the military regions, 28 drug traffickers, and foiled attempts to introduce six quintals and 12 kilograms of processed kif coming from the borders with Morocco, while 78,663 psychotropic tablets were seized. In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar and Djanet, ANP detachments “arrested 149 individuals and seized 12 vehicles, 66 generators, 51 jackhammers, three metal detectors, as well as quantities of mixture of raw gold and stones, explosives, detonation tools and equipment used in illicit gold panning operations.
