The Vice-President of the Republic of Turkey, Cevdet Yilmaz, welcomed, the day before yesterday Monday, in Algiers, the important role of Algeria in the development of Turkey’s relations with the African continent. Reaffirming, in passing, his country’s commitment to strengthening and deepening bilateral political and diplomatic relations. It was at the end of the audience granted to him by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. “The two brotherly countries will continue the development and deepening of their bilateral relations on all levels,” he said, announcing, on the occasion, negotiations between Algeria and Turkey for a preferential trade agreement .

Emphasis was placed on increasing commercial relations and facilitating trade, continued the Vice President of the Republic of Turkey. In order, he added, to achieve the previously set target of $10 billion in trade volume. “During our meeting with
Mr. Tebboune, we discussed our existing cooperation with Algeria, particularly in the field of energy, and potential cooperation opportunities,” said Cevdet Yilmaz, on the X platform regarding the meeting held at the El Mouradia Palace in Algiers.

Reviewing the volume of trade between Algeria and Turkey, which reached 6.3 billion dollars, the Vice-President of the Republic of Turkey indicated that the two countries are getting closer to the objective set for these exchanges, namely 10 billion dollars. An objective following the commitments made by Tebboune and Erdogan during the latter’s visit to Algiers in November 2023, and during which the two heads of state reiterated their desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation, thus marking a new stage by elevating the high-level cooperation council to strategic status.
Bilateral and regional issues were also discussed, the Turkish vice-president further indicated. Expressing Ankara’s satisfaction with Algeria’s position against the crimes committed by Israel in Palestine. “We will maintain our solidarity with Algeria on Palestine.”

Regarding the participation of the Republic of Turkey as the guest of honor of the 55th Algiers International Fair (FIA), which opened its doors the day before yesterday, Monday, Cevdet Yilmaz stressed that his country is taking part in this event with a large delegation comprising representatives of 80 companies, including companies operating in Algeria.
A large Turkish delegation of businessmen and business leaders led by the Vice President of the Republic of Turkey, Cevdet Yilmaz, arrived in Algiers on Sunday to take part in the 55th Algiers International Fair which hosts the Republic of Turkey as guest of honor.
