The President of the Republic arrived at the Academy where he was welcomed by Army General Said Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army (ANP).
The President of the Republic then reviewed a detachment of the ANP that paid him honors and listened to the national anthem. He also paid tribute to the memory of the late President Houari Boumediene, whose name the Military Academy bears, laid a wreath in front of the commemorative stele and recited the Fatiha of the Holy Quran over his soul. The opening of the ceremony was marked by the flyover of a squadron of six training aircraft that decorated the sky of the academy with the national colors, before a formation of six helicopters paid honors to the President of the Republic. The ceremony took place in the presence of senior state officials and senior officers of the National People’s Army (ANP).
After listening, in the lounge of honor, to a presentation on the training course at the Academy and the outgoing promotions named after the late mujahid Colonel Youcef Khatib, President Tebboune presided over the traditional annual ceremony for the graduation of officer promotions.
This is the 55th class of active officer cadets of basic training, the 17th class of basic common military training and the 8th class of Master officers, including the first class of female officers for the Land Forces Command who will be responsible for working at the level of combat units.
The President of the Republic followed the sports performances in close combat and the collective sports movements with and without weapons, in addition to the bodybuilding exercises.
He also followed part of a free jump and operational demonstration exercise carried out by a group of members of the Special Forces of the Land Forces.
The President of the Republic also followed, via a giant screen, the live broadcast of the demonstration exercises carried out at sea by the naval forces.
On the occasion of the annual graduation ceremony of the “Houari-Boumediene” Military Academy in Cherchell (Tipasa), for the year 2023-2024, the Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army, Army General Saïd Chanegriha, delivered a speech in which he expressed his thanks and gratitude to the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, for having personally presided over the graduation ceremony of officers, thereby saluting “the special attention and constant interest enjoyed by the Academy, like the various training schools of the National People’s Army.”
He recalled that the Cherchell Military Academy, like the rest of the training institutions of the National People’s Army, is responsible for training highly qualified personnel, armed with various types of sciences, imbued with national and republican values, and aware of all the transformations that our world is experiencing.
The ANP Chief of Staff also welcomed the initiatives taken by Algeria under the leadership of the President of the Republic, on the diplomatic and military levels, to help neighboring countries restore their stability and preserve their popular and territorial unity.
As a reminder, last May, during his visit to the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, President Tebboune delivered a speech in which he indicated that “the preservation of national sovereignty is based on a strong and formidable army and a developed economy”, stressing that “the National People’s Army is strong and will grow stronger” to preserve this sovereignty.
