As part of the fight against terrorism and thanks to the optimal exploitation of intelligence, joint detachments of the National People’s Army (ANP) arrested five terrorists, during two separate operations carried out during the period from June 20 to 23, 2024. This was indicated by the Ministry of National Defense in a press release. These arrests took place at the operational sector of Bordj Badji Mokhtar and the military sector of Tamanrasset in 6e Military region, according to the same source.
The first operation carried out at the level of the Tamanrasset military sector led to the arrest of four terrorists. They are In-Adjenna Ahmed known as Ahmed El-Targui, Foughas Abdelkarim known as Beka, Aberzoulegh Moussa known as Machaki, Hadj Ousmane Boujemaa known as Djema, the MDN specified.
During their arrests, the said terrorists “belonging to terrorist groups operating in the Sahel region had in their possession two FMPK-type machine guns, four Kalashnikov-type machine pistols, two chains of ammunition loaded with 139 bullets of caliber 7.62×54 mm and six ammunition magazines loaded with 148 bullets of caliber 7.62×39 mm”, according to the MDN press release.
The second operation, carried out in the operational sector of Bordj Badji Mokhtar, led to the arrest of the wanted terrorist Barbouchi Mataa Moulan.
These operations “reiterate, once again, the effectiveness of the approach adopted by the ANP and the efforts made by our Armed Forces on the ground in order to overcome the scourge of terrorism in our country and establish security and tranquility throughout the national territory,” the ministry concluded in its press release.
