During a recent visit to the wilaya of Mostaganem, aimed at inspecting several projects, the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Mokhtar Didouche revealed the launch of 800 new investment projects in the tourism sector at the national level.
In this context, he indicated that “the national hotel park reaches approximately 1,650 hotel establishments, offering a total of 152,000 beds that need to be strengthened and diversified to reach, by 2030, a capacity of approximately 300,000 beds. In this regard, he stressed that more than 2,200 tourism investments have been approved, including 800 projects that can provide 90,000 beds and create 45,000 jobs, the implementation of which has already begun.
After explaining that the tourism sector has a real estate portfolio made up of 249 classified tourist expansion zones, Mr. Didouche noted that 74 tourist development plans have been approved to date, allowing the provision of approximately 1,400 land plots.
He added that the sector is currently looking to make these properties available to investors through the platform
digital of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency.
It should be noted that a national symposium on the promotion of tourist investment was organized on the occasion, aiming to publicize the facilities and advantages decided by the State in the new law on investments and the law relating to the granting of economic land, which is considered as the main entry point for any investment action.
As part of his visit to the province, the minister inspected the Bourahma Leisure and Entertainment Forest, in the commune of Benabdelmalek Ramdane (east of Mostaganem), stressing on the occasion that “the concept of forest tourism, with its new forms, opens up investment horizons and the creation of leisure spaces, allowing the improvement of the national tourist product and the support of the economy by creating new jobs.”
After listening to the proposals of different investment projects in the field of recreational and entertainment forests at the level of the wilaya, he indicated that this “approach will make it possible to create places where the Algerian family will find its destination and its comfort.”
Mr. Didouche previously inspected the ZET tourist expansion zone ”Kef Lasfer”, in the commune of Sidi Lakhdar, whose constraints were recently lifted for the development of an area of 28 hectares of the total surface of the site, which has a wide tourist attraction especially during the summer season.
In this commune, the minister inspected the work on the construction of the summer camp at Petit Port, which is awaiting its partial opening to welcome children from the South of the country during this season.
Reviewing the measures taken to welcome and guide travelers and tourists at the passenger transport maritime station of the port of Mostaganem, Mokhtar Didouche stressed that “the new spaces opened within this infrastructure will contribute to publicizing the tourist capacities of the wilaya and its different capacities in this area.”
On this occasion, the minister inaugurated the Tourist Information and Orientation Office and a sales area for traditional craft products within the same maritime station.
