An exceptional major event, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune gave, yesterday, in the new city of Sidi Abdellah (Algiers), the official kick-off of the operation of distributing more than 251,000 housing units, all formulas combined, across the national territory. Upon his arrival at the entrance to the new city of Sidi Abdellah, the President of the Republic was welcomed by the Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army (ANP), Army General Saïd Chanegriha, the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Regional Planning, Brahim Merad, the Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi and the Wali of Algiers, Mohamed Abdennour
Rabehi. On this occasion, the President of the Republic followed a presentation on the state of the housing sector and the national housing distribution report during the period from July 5, 2020 to July 5, 2024, presented by the Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi.
“Today, we are proud that housing in Algeria is 100% Algerian,” he said. During his supervision in the new city of Sidi Abdallah, to mark the beginning of the process of distributing housing throughout the national territory, President Tebboune affirmed that housing constitutes the real basis for building a strong economy, noting that Algeria’s efforts in this area “have aroused jealousy and dejection among its enemies,” even if the new cities completed have not taken “their share in the media as part of development efforts.” He stressed that “no country in the world can compete with Algeria in terms of numbers” related to the housing sector.
The President continued by recalling in this regard that the region of Sidi Abdallah was a barren land ten years ago, “so we changed it and created a new city there.” On this occasion, the President of the Republic addressed his congratulations to the Algerians for their new home, calling on them to “praise the achievements of their free homeland, for which millions of martyrs sacrificed themselves.” He proceeded to the inauguration of the city named in the name of the late mujahid Othmane Belouizdad and inspected the project to build 10,507 housing units.
In this regard, he said: “Algeria is a giant country founded by giants who sacrificed themselves for it, like the late mujahid Othman Belouizdad,” whose name is taken from one of the districts of the city of Sidi Abdallah.
The President of the Republic concluded by emphasizing that the State will continue to meet the housing needs of citizens. As a reminder, President Tebboune announced at the end of May during his meeting with the notables and representatives of civil society in the wilaya of Khenchela, that registrations for the AADL3 program will be open from July 5. Responding to the concerns of civil society and notables in this wilaya, the President of the Republic declared that registrations for the AADL3 program will be open from July 5.
Regarding the housing programs in the wilaya, the President of the Republic affirmed that “it has been decided, from this day, to add a quota of 2,000 rural housing units to the 4,000 rural housing units already programmed”, stressing that the mountainous regions “will be allocated aid worth 100 million centimes”.
Most recently, in a documentary entitled: ”New Algeria… Vision and Achievements”, broadcast by Algerian Television and produced by the Information and Communication Directorate of the General Staff of the National People’s Army (ANP), the Director General of Housing at the Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning and the City, Mohamed Mordjani, said that the housing sector has seen the delivery of more than 1.250 million housing units of different formulas since 2020, specifying that these housing units were delivered in the form of homogeneous urban units with all the necessary equipment and public structures. As part of the working and inspection visit he made yesterday to the wilaya of Algiers, President Tebboune inaugurated the Douéra football stadium (Algiers), named after the Shahid of the glorious National Liberation War, Ali Ammar known as ”Ali La Pointe”.
