Traffic accidents continue to sow death on the country’s roads. The toll of the last ten days, even from June 23 to July 3, has been heavy on the roads, through which the services of the General Directorate of Civil Protection (DGPC) recorded the death of 73 people and 1,958 others injured, as demonstrated by the numerous daily press releases from the Communication Unit of the General Directorate of Civil Protection (DGPC). During the period from June 23 to 29, the DGPC recorded the death of 53 people and 1,744 others injured through 1,400 traffic accidents that occurred on the roads, this was announced the day before yesterday Tuesday, a weekly report from the same body of intervention and rescue of lives in danger. According to the same periodic information bulletin, the heaviest toll was recorded in the wilaya of Djelfa where the Regional Directorate of Civil Protection of the said wilaya reported the death of 5 people and 52 others injured through 30 traffic accidents recorded during the period under consideration, from June 23 to 29, specifies the said press release of the DGPC. In addition to the death, on the roads, of 53 people during the past week, seven others died in the same circumstances between June 29 and July 1, which brings the toll to 60 deaths during the last nine days. Indeed, from June 29 to 30, the Civil Protection services recorded 198 road accidents across several wilayas of the national territory which caused the death of two people and 244 others injured. The victims were taken care of on the spot and then evacuated to local health structures. While during the short period from June 30 to July 1, the firefighters recorded 202 interventions, following several traffic accidents across several wilayas of the national territory, which caused the death of five people and 222 others injured, the victims were taken care of on the scene and then evacuated to local health structures, indicated the Civil Protection. The heaviest toll was recorded in the wilaya of Ain Defla, which caused the death of two people and another injured, following a collision between a light vehicle and a motorcycle that occurred on the RN° 04 commune of Khemis Miliana. Also, 202 interventions, following several traffic accidents across several wilayas of the national territory, causing the death of 13 people and 214 others injured, the victims were taken care of on the scene and then evacuated to local health structures. The heaviest toll was recorded in the wilaya of Tamanrasset, with 4 people dead and injuries to 4 other people, following a collision between two vehicles on RN N° 01, commune and daira of Ain M’Guel.
