The Director General of the National Agency for the Support and Development of Entrepreneurship, Billel Achacha, said that micro-enterprises in Algeria contribute, today, at a rate of 25% to the Gross National Product, which is the accepted average and not far from that registered in Italy, the consideration as a leading country in this field, where micro-enterprises represent 30% of the Gross National Product. On the sidelines of his intervention on the program “Dayf Essabah” on the airwaves of Algerian Radio Channel I, Mr. Achacha considered that micro-enterprises in Algeria are considered a key sector of national development, and stressed that his department intends to “create 10,000 micro-enterprises during the year 2024, which will contribute to the creation of 30,000 new jobs.”
The same official added in this context by saying: “Small enterprises are those that employ less than ten employees, and they represent today 97% of the number of small and medium-sized enterprises active in Algeria, a percentage that is close to that of small and medium-sized enterprises or higher than the number of these enterprises in Mediterranean countries, particularly in Portugal and Italy.” He also stressed that a digital platform was opened a few days ago, and that entrepreneurs who meet the conditions can register in order to benefit from the advantages of the system. It is intended for those whose age does not exceed 55 years and those who hold training certificates from the Agency’s 102 centers across the national territory.
On the other hand, Achacha announced that the process of studying the files would begin immediately after completing the registration procedures on this platform. Today, many files are being studied in order to benefit from financial support. They include 1,777 projects and aim to create added value in many areas, economic sectors, including services, industry, agriculture and trade.
He continued by saying: “Many deficiencies have appeared in the past in the management and support of projects, and the result is that many of them have not been successful, and today we are working to change the working methods, including the gaps in the field of training project leaders with the help of institutes affiliated to the Agency, as well as the expertise of the Ministry of Vocational Training.” In his speech, the Director General of the National Agency for Support and Development of Entrepreneurship confirmed their efforts to address the imbalances recorded in the support process by the Agency, which continues in some countries for a period of six months, and to work to resolve the problem of industrial land and diversify methods by focusing on studying the economic feasibility of projects by developing a business plan accompanied by an evaluation map.
