Notables and tribal chiefs from the Ahaggar region expressed, this Monday afternoon in Tamanrasset, their support for the candidacy of Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for a second presidential term.
In the final communiqué of their periodic meeting with Amenokal Ahmed Idabir, at the Houari-Boumediène youth center in the city of Tamanrasset, the notables and tribal chiefs of the Ahaggar region stressed that their “support for the outgoing President for another term does not date from today, but dates back to his plebiscite during the 2019 presidential election.”
In this sense, Amenokal called for “massive participation in the next presidential election.” On this occasion, he affirmed the commitment of the region’s population to their historical commitments, stressing that “the organization of this periodic meeting, coinciding with the month of the recovery of national sovereignty, is a strong message addressed to all enemies of national unity,” aimed at initiating communication and consultation around the various local, national and regional issues. He called for demonstrating nationalism, “to promote dialogue, to banish discord and division and to promote coordination with state institutions.”
After calling on the notables and tribal chiefs to promote the efforts of the State for the development of these regions of the great South, Mr. Idabir said that the border region of In Guezzam, for example, was promoted to wilaya, adding that the region of Tin Zouatine, which was only a camp, is today a daïra.
Participants took the opportunity to raise some concerns including supporting the supply of fuel and butane gas cylinders to the region, drilling of wells for livestock and irrigation across remote desert areas, as well as providing telephone services along roads for the opening up of the region.
Amenokal Ahmed Idabir pledged to convey the concerns of the residents to the public authorities, also calling for intensifying regular meetings with the notables and tribal chiefs of the Ahaggar region.
