The criminal and misdemeanor cases that the police services of the wilaya of Tizi Ouzou handled during the month of June 2024 number 302. Similarly, 187 “surge” operations were carried out during this period by the same services.

The judicial police services handled 147 cases, involving 178 people. Regarding cases relating to crimes and offences against property such as damage to property, simple theft and vandalism, etc., the same services handled 44 cases in which 65 people were implicated. And among these, 25 of them were presented before the Public Prosecutor’s Office, 13 of whom were placed in preventive detention, 5 were summoned to appear, 5 others were placed under judicial supervision and 2 were released on bail.
In addition, these police services have investigated and forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office 40 cases of a judicial nature. In the section relating to offences against the legislation on narcotics and psychotropic substances, the same services, the press release notes, have handled 61 cases in which 75 people are implicated. And among these individuals implicated, 41 of them were presented before the Public Prosecutor’s Office, 15 of whom were placed in preventive detention, 11 were placed under judicial supervision and the other 15 were issued with a summons to appear.
In this specific context, the same competent police services have instructed and transmitted to the relevant judicial authority 34 cases of a judicial nature. As for cases relating to crimes and offences against public property such as public and obvious drunkenness, drunk driving, insulting a constituted body, etc.), the police document underlines that 50 cases were processed and where 68 people were involved.
And among these, 13 people were presented before the Prosecutor’s Office, one (01) of whom was placed in preventive detention, 02 were summoned to appear, 08 were placed under judicial supervision and the 02 were released on bail. On this same point, and the relevant police services have investigated and transmitted to the Prosecutor’s Office 55 files of a judicial nature.
Furthermore, and as part of the fight against urban crime, we can read in the press release of the communication unit of the wilaya security, 187 Operations Coup de Poing were initiated during the period under consideration, targeting 350 different points, 3228 people were checked. 71 of them were presented to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for various offenses, namely 06 for carrying prohibited weapons, 14 for possession of narcotics and psychotropic drugs, 31 people subject to search and 20 for other offenses.
