Cap sur l’accompagnement des opérateurs – Le Jeune Indépendant

The Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) organized, last Thursday, an awareness day on export intended for exporters and other stakeholders in this activity. The objective is to highlight the advantages and government measures aimed at promoting non-hydrocarbon exports, by offering support to exporters.

This meeting took place at the CACI headquarters, in the presence of a considerable number of economic operators, including owners of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) wishing to launch themselves into the world of export and operating in several areas such as agri-food, chemistry, cosmetics, electrical equipment, agricultural products, electronic and household appliances, as well as experts in the fields of logistics, transport and consulting.

Speaking on this occasion, the DG of CACI, Hocine Zaoui, specified that this day, entitled “Export Day”, was part of the continuation of efforts aimed at supporting export activity through the organization of a series of awareness-raising meetings for the benefit of economic operators concerned by export.

After indicating that “exporting is a big challenge”, the same speaker recalled that Algeria, which was among the major importers of several products, such as construction materials, food products, cement and ceramics, is today one of the main exporting countries, hence the imperative to preserve these achievements while working to export other products.

Considering that “the objective of reaching a volume of non-hydrocarbon exports of 30 billion dollars by 2030 is achievable, given the capacities available to Algeria”, the same official stressed that “the responsibility of the economic operator consists of respecting export standards, including quality, packaging as well as its competitiveness on foreign markets”.

Zaoui said that the various CACI departments were willing to listen to the concerns of economic operators and support them, calling on them to benefit from the various measures taken by the public authorities as part of the strategy to promote non-hydrocarbon exports, as well as the decisions taken to support and encourage exporters.

For his part, the director of international cooperation and partnership at the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kamel Kheffache, indicated that this meeting was part of awareness-raising and training operations for the benefit of economic operators, particularly in terms of export, adding that it was “intended for export operators as well as business owners wishing to launch into the world of export.”

“For several years, non-hydrocarbon exports in Algeria amounted to nearly $2 billion, but after the development of a national export promotion strategy and the implementation of several measures aimed at encouraging economic operators to export, non-hydrocarbon exports experienced a significant jump, reaching nearly $7 billion, with the objective of reaching $30 billion by 2030,” he said.

“Increasing the volume of non-hydrocarbon exports to 30 billion dollars by 2030 is a challenge that can be achieved thanks to several factors, such as the business climate that encourages local and foreign investors to diversify industrial, agricultural and service production.”

In this regard, he called on economic operators to seize the opportunities available to position themselves in foreign markets, particularly through the facilities granted by the public authorities to support and encourage them, including those given within the framework of the Special Fund for the Promotion of Exports (FSPE) relating to the contribution to export costs, in addition to tax and customs facilitations.
